The Mission of the Hollywood Charity Horse Show Organization is: To support local and national children’s and veteran’s charities.
It was back in the late 1980s that William Shatner first watched an exhibition by children who were so severely handic apped that some of them could not hold their head up, yet there they were g oing through intricate exercises on the back of a horse. The program was sp onsored by Ahead With Horses, a therapeutic riding group for handicapped ch ildren. When the exhibition was over, Shatner sat, deeply affected by what he had seen saying “You can’t watch these kids without knowing you have to help, somehow.”
And so, in March of 1990 came the birth of the first Hollywood Charity Horse Show. Soon, other charities in need of help were a dded, small, grass root charities doing big time jobs. Today, the Priceline Hollywood Charity Horse Show is an ongoing event that garners national pre ss coverage. On one special Saturday evening each year, William Shatner bri ngs together world-class reining horses and riders in breathtaking slides a nd spins as they compete for top honors in their respective classes. Then, as the sun sets, the much-anticipated dinner and musical show begins. Past entertainers include: Brad Paisley, Ben Folds, Lyle Lovett, Willie Nelson, Sheryl Crow, Randy Travis, Vince Gill, Wynonna Judd, Neal McCoy and Dwight Yoakum.
For those unable to attend the event, Mr. Shatner cultivates a unique set of offerings for an online auction. The items appeal to a bro ad base of entertainment fans through the help of Mr. Shatner’s generous fr iends in the Entertainment Industry. Unique and signed items are provided, all with the goal of raising as much money as possible for the charities be nefited by this 501c3 organization.
100% of all donations received go to the recipient 501c3 Charities we have selected. There are no overhead costs nor are there any employees. Any costs needed to operate the charity are underwritten by a private party.
