In the early hours of May 30, 2026, three competition horses—Sully, Detail, and Rocket—were injured while stabled at the South Point Hotel & Casino Equestrian Center during the NBHA Las Vegas Super Show.

The incident has shocked the equestrian community and raised difficult questions about horse safety, trauma, warning signs, accountability, and mental health.

As a Registered Nurse with experience in mental health and crisis intervention, I take a closer look at the publicly reported facts, firsthand statements from those involved, and some of the behavioral patterns and warning signs that many people in the horse community are discussing.

This video focuses not only on what happened, but also on the horses, their recovery, and what we can learn as a community moving forward.

One of the most heartbreaking parts of this story is hearing owners describe the emotional impact on their horses.

Arielle Phillips shared the pain of seeing Detail, a horse that had always trusted her, react fearfully after the incident. For horse owners, that loss of confidence and trust can be every bit as devastating as the physical injuries.

The encouraging news is that horses are incredibly resilient. With patience, consistency, familiar routines, positive experiences, and time, many horses can regain confidence and rebuild trust after traumatic events.
